CANTER’S DELICATESSEN AT THE SILVER LEGACY

Famed Los Angeles deli, voted best pastrami by the Los Angeles Times, has a  new Reno location inside the Silver Legacy!

Legendary Canter’s Delicatessen will open at the Silver Legacy this Wednesday, marking the first northern Nevada location for LA’s finest deli experience. Established in 1931, the Los Angeles Times and LA Weekly have voted Canter’s as the best pastrami sandwich which has kept locals and celebrities alike returning for decades to enjoy authentic Jewish deli cuisine. With fresh-baked breads, famous housemade pickles and award-winning pastrami, Canter’s Delicatessen will open daily at 11 a.m. and is located next to the Laugh Factory Comedy Club, another Los Angeles staple, on the casino floor.

Canter’s prides itself on delivering a legendary experience that has kept its clientele returning for decades. This culinary icon is lovingly managed by the third and fourth generations of the Canter family, who take a hands-on approach to ensure the highest quality in every aspect of the restaurant. Signature sandwiches include hot beef, turkey or pastrami dip which are mile-high sandwiches packed with fresh sliced meats of choice, caramelized red onion and Swiss cheese on a French roll served with au jus or the traditional Reuben with pastrami, corned beef or roasted turkey, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Russian dressing served on Rye. Traditional Jewish fare like matzo ball soup, hot potato knish, hand-sliced lox and smoked liverwurst along with cheesecake, giant black and white cookies and Dr. Brown’s sodas complete the quintessential deli experience.

“It is a true honor to work with a restaurant known around the world and to be able to situate it right here in Downtown Reno,” said Gene Carano, Senior Vice President of Operations and General Manager of Eldorado Resorts Downtown Reno Properties. “Along with its incredible menu of signature sandwiches, Canter’s Delicatessen is a family-owned restaurant passed on through generations of Canters, a sentiment we can relate to, and we proudly welcome Canter’s Delicatessen to our expanding portfolio of diverse eateries. Guests both local and visiting will enjoy food made with love and history.”

As noted by Sheryll Bellman in her book America’s Great Delis: “You wouldn’t think that Los Angeles could have a deli rival to New York’s, but for those who know and love the deli culture and appreciate all that it evokes, this place is heaven. Voted the #1 Best Pastrami by the Los Angeles Times, Canter’s Deli sandwiches are always served on rye, unless you ask for something else, but don’t do that! Made famous for its corned beef and pastrami sandwiches Canter’s Deli boasts of serving the best quality food at reasonable prices… Tour buses stop here, and many tourists eat here as well, but the real heart and soul of this deli are the locals who have never moved from the neighborhood and the stars who slip in here incognito for a late night nosh. Canter’s Deli is a place of solace, and they come for the old-fashioned Jewish food that reminds them of their past.”

DAVID CROSBY, APRIL 29

Tickets on sale Saturday

Legendary singer-songwriter and social justice activist David Crosby is a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, inducted as a member of both the iconic folk-rock band The Byrds, with whom he first rose to stardom, and the iconic Woodstock era-defining group Crosby, Stills & Nash. Crosby presents “An Evening with David Crosby & Friends” at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino on Saturday, April 29.
A native Californian and son of an Academy Award-winning cinematographer, Crosby originally intended to be an actor when he moved from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles in 1960. Music prevailed, however, and Crosby began his career as a folksinger, playing clubs and coffeehouses nationwide. Back in L.A. in ’63, Crosby formed with Byrds with Roger McGuinn, Chris Hillman, Gene Clark and Michael Clarke, winning widespread recognition for his songwriting and charismatic presence. Driven by hits including “Eight Miles High,” “Turn! Turn! Turn!” and a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man,” The Byrds’ signature electric folk-rock influenced countless musicians to come.
Crosby left The Byrds in 1967 to embark on a lifelong collaboration with Graham Nash and Stephen Stills. Renowned for vocal harmonies, stellar musicianship and timeless songs, Crosby, Stills & Nash have been called “the voice of a generation” and were Grammy-honored in 1969 as Best New Artist. The trio’s self-titled debut album introduced classics including the Crosby-penned tracks “Guinnevere” and “Wooden Ships.” Today, the album is included on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Crosby continues to tour and record with CSN, as well as with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and as a duo with Graham Nash.
As a solo artist, Crosby debuted with the 1971 masterpiece “If Only I Could Remember My Name,” recently reissued as a two-disc set featuring video footage and other bonuses. Crosby also performs and records with CPR, the jazz-flavored trio he formed in 1995 with his son James Raymond and Jeff Pevar.

Tickets will go on sale Saturday, Feb. 4 for $49.50, $59.50 and $69.50 and can be purchased at SilverLegacy.com or by calling 775-325-7401.
